Questions

Does compressing lower the quality?

A little, by design. At 70 to 80 percent quality most photos look the same to the eye and are often a third of the size. You can see the saving on every file and raise the quality if you want.

Why did my PNG barely shrink?

PNG is lossless, so the only way to make it much smaller is to resize it or save it as WebP or JPG. Use the Save as buttons to switch format.

Are my images uploaded?

Your images are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded, so they stay private and there is no file size wait.

Can I compress to an exact size, like 100 KB?

Yes. Enter a target in KB. The tool tries lower qualities until the file fits and keeps the best one it finds. Very small targets on large photos may also need a smaller width.

About the Image Compressor

To compress an image, add your JPG, PNG or WebP files, pick a quality level and download smaller copies. Most photos shrink by 50 to 80 percent with no visible change, and the images stay on your device.

Tips for a better result

Private image editing, no upload

Most tools here run inside your browser. The file is opened on your own device and the result is made there too, so it is never uploaded to our servers. That makes them safe for contracts, IDs, payslips and client files, and they keep working on slow connections because nothing large is sent. Photos often hold your location and camera details, so editing them on your device is the private choice. Many tools handle a batch of images at once and give you a ZIP.
